Designing Hong Kong Limited objects to this application under both the Protection of the Harbour Ordinance and the Town Planning Ordinance for the following reasons:

ONE - Records show that traffic generated by the hotels will increase the demand for additional road capacity and the need for the future extension of Route 4 from Kennedy Town to Aberdeen as an alternative route to the existing north-south corridors between the Southern District and the Central Business District, Kowloon and the Airport.

TWO: Records show that all alignments proposed to date for the Route 4 extension directly or indirectly:

 Require reclamation within or otherwise impair Victoria Harbour;
 Limit the public use and enjoyment of the harbour and harbourfront;
 Block visual and physical access to the harbour;
 Sterilize an important section of the harbourfront;
 Have a significant negative impact on the living environment and quality of life in Kennedy Town, Mount Davis, Pok Fu Lam and adjoining areas.

We call on the Town Planning Board to acknowledge that the captioned developments fail to protect the harbour and threaten the health, safety, convenience and general welfare of the community along the proposed alignments of the extension of Route 4.

We call on Ocean Park Hong Kong, which aspires to be the world leader in providing excellent guest experiences and claims to exist for the public’s benefit, to acknowledge that:

 Its proposed hotel developments contribute to traffic congestion which in turn create a negative experience for its guests;

 Its proposed hotel developments and related traffic are a threat to Victoria Harbour, as well as a threat to the health, safety, convenience and general welfare of the community along the proposed alignments of Route 4;

 These negative consequences are in conflict with the vision and mission of Ocean Park Hong Kong, and damaging to its reputation.
