Repulse Bay Hearing set for 20 March 2009
The Town Planning Board has sent out 1,800 invitations asking our readers to present their views on Repulse Bay Beach Road and the Seaview Building during a hearing on March 20, 2009.
Do make use of this opportunity and let the Board and the Government hear your views directly.
RESPOND BEFORE 5 MARCH TO THE LETTER OR EMAIL YOU RECEIVED FROM THE TOWN PLANNING BOARD, AND CONFIRM WITH THE SECRETARIAT ([email protected]) THE NAME OF THE SPEAKER AND THE TIME YOU NEED FOR YOUR PRESENTATION.
A few notes:
1. Rumours have it that the Government is ready to revise their plans for Repulse Bay, but no details have been released. Therefore your input is valuable as it will shape the outcome.
2. We checked with the Police and Transport Department and found that there are only a few complaints recorded regarding tour busses blocking the road or idling engines - this in contrast to many comments we received from residents. If you do make a complaint, ask for a record number!
3. In case all 1,800 people present for ten minutes each, the hearing by the Town Planning Board on Repulse Bay would take 300 hours or 38 days. In the USA they would call that a filibuster. Maybe that is what it takes. Let's hope not.
