Object to TST Star Ferry compromise (Deadline: 8 November)
![]() We invite you to support alternative proposals for redevelopment of the bus terminus at the Star Ferry Pier in Tsim Sha Tsui, and to object to a bad compromise. Click here for a review of the options. Take a minute to let Government know what you think. Deadline is November 8. Here is a summary: ![]() The plan was to move the large and run down bus terminus from the Star Ferry Pier to the Tsim Sha Tsui East Station, and to create a piazza in front of the pier. District Councils objected as this would make the transfer between bus and ferry inconvenient. ![]() The Government has cancelled the scheme and gazetted a redesign of the bus terminus at the pier instead. The plan is a bad compromise: Bus bays are spread out along Salisbury Road, there is no shelter from the weather, pedestrian access from Canton Road is narrowed further and there is no design. ![]() We propose a compact terminus with a roof surrounded by public space, or an ‘invisible’ submerged terminus with uninterrupted views of the harbour. We prefer the submerged option. Yes, it will be more expensive, but our most popular waterfront for residents and tourists alike is worth it. And we can afford it – in TST and elsewhere along the harbour. Click here for a review of the options prepared by OTC, a Hong Kong based firm with global experience in intermodal terminal design and let Government know what you think. Deadline is 8 November 2011. |
