Hong Kong's Foam Plastic Pellet Crisis
The volume of foam plastic pellets entering Hong Kong waters has reached crisis proportions. The foam pellets are impacting all our shorelines and threaten our marine life. Due to a criminal lack of care by Hong Kong Government, and the fish and vegetable trade, a large amount of Styrofoam is discharged daily into Hong Kong waters. One of the main local culprits is the fish trade in Aberdeen. Click here for the video: https://youtu.be/yC18m-THRuU To address the pellet crisis in the short run, we need Government to guarantee that there will be 'zero-Styrofoam discharge’ from the Aberdeen Harbour, the fish market, and associated trucks and vessels. To fix the pellet crisis in the long run, we need Government to mandate alternatives for Styrofoam in the fish and vegetable trade.
