The Government proposes to sell the General Post Office as part of "Site 3" – a large area including the Star Ferry carpark all the way to the Piers 7 and 8. The development is also known as the ‘groundscraper’.

Other people suggest to conserve the General Post Office as it has architecture, heritage and community values. Design concepts proposed by Benoy, an architecture and planning firm, show how the General Post Office could fit into the development of Site 3.

政府正計劃將中環郵政總局連同「3號用地」一同出售。「3號用地」包括天星碼頭多層停車場，並一直延伸至中環7號和8號碼頭。
