Safeguard our oasis in Tsim Sha Tsui 保衛鬧市中的綠洲 - 九龍公園 The Development Bureau is pushing to create space under Kowloon Park for tunnels to divert pedestrians away from overcrowded pavements, as well as for commercial and institutional facilities. Although details on the distribution and management are hard to come by the space will be privatised. The park will change dramatically, with many new buildings, exits and ventilation shafts, and the loss of trees. The real cause of pedestrian congestion in Tsim Sha Tsui is ignored by government. Haiphong Road is over-used because it is the only barrier free link from Canton Road to the MTR. To cross Kowloon Park Drive further south, people are forced to use tunnels which is an inconvenient approach as they need to go up and down repeatedly. Re-open street level pedestrian crossings at Peking Road, Middle Road and Salisbury Road, and the park can be saved. Safeguard our oasis in Tsim Sha Tsui.
