Petition for English medium special needs children

A petition campaign (goo.gl/qOHY5e) is calling for measures to reduce the waiting time for English speaking Special Education Needs children seeking primary school education.

The waiting time is now up to 5 years. There are only around 400 places provided by learning support centres, international schools and one specialist school.

It is always tough to learn in another language. But for special needs children it is often inappropriate as they will be at great risk isolation. Especially parents with high need children are desperate as there is no support at all in the local school system.

以英語教授的特殊教育學位非常短缺，輪候時間接近5年。現在有團體發起網上聯署行動（goo.gl/qOHY5e ），要求政府當局採取果斷措施縮減這些小學學童的輪候時間。

全港只有400個以英語教授的特殊教育學位，分別由學習支援中心、國際學校及一所英語特殊學校提供。

若然要這些學童入讀中文特殊學校，他們將可能面對被孤立的情況，嚴重影響他們的發展。另外中文特殊學校未能給予高度特殊教育需的英語學童提供最基本的支援，從而為家長帶來沈重的壓力。
